Autour d’eau

Autour d’eau is a collective work, created in collaboration with choreographer Nika Stein, musician Fabiola Ugarte and the Femmes en Action initiative of the Centre Communautaire de loisirs Sainte-Catherine D’Alexandrie, in Montreal. With support from the Canada Council for the Arts’ Artists and Community Collaborations program, 18 women from different ethnic backgrounds contributed to this exploration of the human relationship with water.

Together, we explored through movement the myths, rituals, symbolic representations, deities and creatures of water from different cultures, as well as each participant’s personal associations with water. To share our research, we transformed some of our explorations into structured improvisations woven into an abstract narrative evoking the cycles of water.
